Making Sense of Storm Damage Insurance Claims

Jose Mizhirumbay • July 1, 2023

In Massachusetts, if there's one thing we can count on, it's severe weather. In the warmer months, this severe weather can cause severe damage. Wind and hail from summer storms can lead to an insurance loss on your homeowner's policy. When this happens, here's what you can expect from your storm damage claim when you partner with New Stage Home Improvement.

1. Inspection & Temporary Repairs

One of our project managers will come out to your property to inspect your roof and siding for storm damage. The project manager will document damage, perform diagnostic tests, and take photos and video for your insurance claim. This will help you build the case that repairs or replacement is required.

In the meantime, we will make emergency, temporary repairs to ensure your home is protected against further damage. While you will pay out of pocket for these emergency measures, if you save your receipts, you may be reimbursed for these expenses by your insurance company later.

2. Contact Your Insurance Company

Once our project manager has completed their inspection, you should reach out to your insurance company to start the claims process. The first steps will be to share the documentation of any damage and schedule the adjustor's visit. New Stage Home Improvement can be on-site with you and the adjustor to advocate for you and answer any questions you or the adjustor have.

3. Finalize Estimate & Approve Work

Once the adjustor has submitted their report, we will update our estimate to match the work specified by your insurance company. Once you and the insurance company agree to the estimate, you sign the contract and get on our schedule.

4. Payments & Paperwork

If you have a mortgage on your home, the check from your insurance carrier will be made out to you and the mortgage lender. This ensures the money is spent on the necessary repairs. Once this check clears, you pay New Stage Home Improvement for the work performed on your home.

New Stage Home Improvement is one of the most trusted companies in the region for new storm damage repairs. We can help explain the insurance claim process to you and ensure you receive the proper payment for required repairs.
